I know what you're thinking: how did this 21-year-old college student from North Carolina score an interview - albeit one question - with Sir Elton John? Here's what happened.

I was browsing my Facebook timeline last week and saw that Elton was hosting a live chat regarding his new album The Diving Board - which is amazing by the way. I thought it'd be cool to see if he would respond so I joined in the crowd of excited people and asked a question. What did I ask? Simple. I asked what was his inspiration for The Diving Board. It's a pretty different animal from his other albums so I was wondering where the inspiration came from. Sir Elton said his 2006 album, The Captain and the Kid, was basically dumped by the record label and he became disinterested in recording. However he met some amazing people, including T-Bone Burnett, and he fell in love with recording again, therefore giving you The Diving Board.

Just in case you don't believe me, here's proof...

Thank you, Sir Elton, and go check out his new album on iTunes.
